Author Laura Moriarty to discuss, sign new book

While I'm Falling

Laura Moriarty's latest novel, While I'm Falling, is the story of a mother and daughter whose lives are unraveling at the same time. Veronica is a KU student who is struggling in school, has wrecked someone else's car, and is about to lose her job and her boyfriend. Her divorced mother has lost her apartment and shows up at the dorm in need of a place to stay, driving a minivan packed with all of her possessions and with the elderly, incontinent family dog in tow.

Moriarty will present a reading and discussion of While I'm Falling and sign copies at the Library on Thursday, August 6 at 7 pm. The event is free and open to the public, and is co-sponsored by The Raven Book Store, which will make copies of the book available for purchase at the event.

Also the author of The Center of Everything and The Rest of Her Life, Laura Moriarty was born in Hawaii and raised all over before coming to Lawrence to attend KU, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and an MFA in creative writing. She currently teaches creative writing at KU and resides in Lawrence with her daughter.
